Security & privacy FAQ

Last updated: June 2026

Plain answers — no tech jargon. Your bank details, insurance papers, and other private notes stay locked and encrypted unless you open them with your vault key.

Can EazyFi read what I save in my vault?

No. Your details are locked on your device before they reach us. We only ever see the locked version. Only your vault key opens it — and we never get that key.

What is my vault key?

It is the secret you choose to open your vault — like the combination to a safe. It is not the same as your EazyFi login password. If you lose it, we cannot get your entries back. Keep it somewhere safe.

Is it safe to keep my vault on EazyFi cloud?

Yes. Whatever is on our servers is already locked with your vault key before it leaves your device. Without that key, it is useless — to us, to hackers, to anyone. Most people use cloud so they can open their vault easily from any phone or computer.

What if I don’t want to rely on the cloud?

You can keep the main copy yourself. In your vault, tap Storage → I keep my vault file. Download the file when you save or lock. Next time, upload it to open your vault.

You can still tick also keep a copy on EazyFi cloud — that is optional, still locked the same way, and handy if you want easy access later.

What is the backup file on my device?

Your own locked copy — extra peace of mind if you want something in your hands, not only on our servers. Without your vault key, the file means nothing. Tip: don’t store the key in the same place as the file.

What’s the difference between the backup file and a PDF?

Backup file — stays locked; you open it in EazyFi with your vault key.

PDF — a normal readable copy you can open like any document. Good for printing or if you ever want your details outside EazyFi.

What if someone hacks EazyFi?

They would only get locked data — not your real details, and not your vault key. Without your key, it stays unreadable.

What if someone steals my backup file?

The file alone is not enough. They would also need your vault key. Keep the key separate from the file.

What if I stop using EazyFi?

Download a PDF while you still have access. That is your readable copy to keep.

What if I forget my vault key?

We cannot reset it or recover your entries. That is what keeps your privacy strong — so please store your key carefully. Keeping a PDF of important details is a good backup plan.

How does family access work?

You share your vault key with family when you choose to — not through us. We tell you when someone tries to open your vault. Your rules still apply. We never see the key they use.
